North American electronics refurbishment company needed to standardize the opening tools used across multiple disassembly workstations.
The customer already had enough screwdrivers, but pry tools were sourced from different suppliers, wore out at different rates, and were not consistent between operators. FIXBUD used a 9-piece Prying & Opening Tool Kit and reorganized the mix.
The final configuration combined plastic and metal tools for different stages of device opening. The first order was 1,000 sets, followed by regular quarterly replenishment of approximately 500–800 sets.
In a refurbishment environment, the same devices are opened repeatedly throughout the day. Using mixed tools from different sources created several problems:
-- Operators used different pry tools for the same task
-- Some metal tools were too aggressive for painted or plastic housings
-- Softer plastic tools wore quickly under repeated use
-- Replacement purchasing became difficult to standardize
The customer did not need a larger electronics repair kit; rather, they needed a repeatable opening tool configuration that could be assigned to each workstation and replaced consistently.
That made workflow fit more important than total piece count.
The main challenge was balancing durability and surface protection.
Metal pry tools are stronger and useful when a tighter initial gap needs to be created, but they can damage softer housings if used in the wrong position.
Plastic opening tools are safer for visible surfaces, but they wear faster when used repeatedly on tight seams.
We separated the opening process into three practical stages:
Initial opening: A stronger tool is used to start the gap at a controlled point.
Gap expansion: Plastic picks or spudgers keep the housing separated while reducing the risk of scratches.
Internal access: Slim non-metal tools are used around cables, connectors and delicate internal parts.
This made the tool selection easier to understand and more consistent across different refurbishment stations.
9PCS Prying & Opening Tool Kit For Phone, Laptop, Tablet
Instead of treating every pry tool as interchangeable, FIXBUD organized the set around the customer’s actual disassembly sequence.
The final mix retained both plastic and metal opening tools, but each type had a clearer role in phone, tablet and laptop teardown.
This helped reduce unnecessary tool switching and made replacement purchasing simpler because each workstation could use the same standardized kit.
For a refurbishment company handling high device volumes, that consistency is more valuable than adding more accessories.
The first 1,000 sets were distributed across the customer’s refurbishment workstations.
Opening tools are consumable in high-frequency teardown environments; the customer later established a regular replenishment pattern of approximately 500–800 sets per quarter.
The project demonstrates FIXBUD’s ability to develop workflow-based opening tool configurations for electronics refurbishment, rather than only supplying generic pry tool assortments.
For refurbishers, repair networks, and service centers, FIXBUD can adjust the combination of metal pry tools, plastic opening picks, and spudgers according to device type, usage frequency, and workstation needs.
FIXBUD can help configure prying and opening tool kits for smartphone, tablet, laptop, and electronics refurbishment workflows, with bulk supply for multi-station operations.
